PIPEDA

In Canada, we are protected by two federal privacy laws.  The Privacy Act covers the personal information-handling practices of the federal government and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is Canada’s private sector privacy law, which came fully into effect on January 1, 2004.  Girls Incorporated of York Region follows the guidelines set by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada concerning the implementation of PIPEDA.  To review the entire act and what that means for members and staff please visit http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/P-8.6/index.html
