What is the time commitment?
Once a week, once a month, once a year.

What would I be volunteering for? What activities, days?
You can volunteer for the Board of Directors, weekly or monthly programs, special events, office help, and workshops. 

Would there be any cost to myself?
We do not cover the expenses for police checks, doctor's clearances, and mileage.

Is a vehicle required?
For some programs vehicles are required.

How much advanced notice would I have on events?
You will be notified well in advance of major events and called two weeks before the date to discuss details.
 
What kind of support is available to me as a volunteer?
We provide training for all volunteer positions and on-going consultation with professional staff.

Do I require a police check?
Yes, a police screening is required for most volunteer positions. Please refer to the onscreen volunteer information session for more information.

Can I choose what activities I want to participate in?
You choose what you want to volunteer for.

Can I volunteer for more then one activity or event? Is there a limit?
There is no limit to how many events or activities that you want to help volunteer for.
 
Who are the members of Girls Inc. who benefit from the programs?
Girls 6-18 who reside in York Region or Bradford. They may come from a variety of family constellations  including one-parent, two-parent, and foster-families.

Do I require any special skills or certificates and do you provide training?
You are not required to have any special skills, we'll provide you with all the training you'll need.
 
How long is the process to screen or approve me for a volunteer?
The screening can take from as little as one week to months depending on the availability of your references.
